So I'm finally starting to close in on my final exam. My final, not to worry about, pointless, I-really-don't-care-about-too-much-but-I'm-still-studying-for-for-some-stupid-reason sociology exam. I'm almost done my 1st term of university, and I can proudly say that I have survived!!!

I feel really sad, though. As much to say that I absolutely love my university life with all its fun and freedoms, I just feel so empty on the other end of the spectrum. Sometimes it seems like I have it all when I can just chill with my friends, toughing it through projects and exams together, surviving university life by supporting each other. It's only when I let go of one good thing that I realize how much I want another, but that just can't happen in university.

Everybody is too widespread, you can only truly get close to a small group of people, no matter how many friends you have, you just can't truly solidfy true friendships with everybody. And then there's the people that just don't socialize, and they just don't have friends, but that's their problem =P. Anyways, I've found that when I try to be with everybody at one point or another, I just become the guy that's around sometimes without a real identity of being known or appreciated. Getting into the groove for university isn't hard, but it requires finding a niche that I consequently have to be more dedicated to.

So what is the solution? I don't know. I can honestly say that my supposed 'niche' has changed significantly at least 4 or 5 times within my university life thus far. But I guess that's what university life is all about, trying new things. Trying everything. Getting comfortable, meeting lots of people. Studying hard *cough*, and succeeding in school *cough*.

University is such a big change for everybody. Some people change completely, others stubbornly try to hold on to old habits, and even more significantly, old friends, not that it's a bad thing of course. Personally, before coming to university, I was one of those people who would go to great lengths just to keep old ties and friendships because my high school friends have made such an impact on me and are just that important in my life. And they still are, as I've discovered, despite the lack of contact. However, I've moved on, and so has everybody else, and we've all gone out and found new friends, broadening the spectrum and finding new people that we can trust and depend on.

I don't know if I've changed. Rather, I know that I've changed, but I just don't know how. I've grown some new habits, but how much has it really changed me? It's like I'm still the same person with the same old issues, just with different people. Because of some past experiences and lessons, naturally I do things a little different, but that's only because I learn almost everything the hard way, unfortunately. I've learned a lot in university, there's no doubt about it. If I haven't learned anything after coming this far, I would be pretty screwed.

I haven't taken any large falls yet, socially or academically. Yes, there were times that I suck at writing tests and stuff since I didn't study enough, but I wasn't that bad off. Thus, it's much easier for me to say that I have no regrets so far. I'm actually quite happy with almost all the decisions I've made so far, which is partly why I'm loving university life.

4 months over, well, almost. It's time to go home soon. Back to a life that I once had, under the eyes of my parents, with the car I love to drive, with all the friends I used to hang out with. All those kids. I want to feel like a kid again. I miss all my old friends. I miss hanging out with the guys, everyday. I miss playing dreamcast and PS2 until we got bored, and then we would play mahjong until we started getting stupid, and then we'd go back to video games. I miss seeing my girls and doing whatever with them. What did I do with them? I guess like all the same stuff, minus the video games =P. So many memories coming back to me, flooding me with many of the old thoughts I once held. My cousin saw a picture of me and Joyce in my MSN pic, and she asked if she was my girlfriend. I thought that was cute, and I said no, although I kind of wish she was now! I don't know what that's supposed to mean, haha. I guess it's just because I miss her, along with all my old friends.

Wow this post is going nowhere, so random. Oh well. I think I'll just leave it here for now and maybe continue later. I have to start "studying" for sociology.

Deep thought of the day: I really miss home now.

Aight, that's all for now.

Once upon a time, there was a boy who had an economics exam in 5 days. He currently had a 60-something % in the course, and the final was worth 50%, so this exam would pretty much make or break his continuation in his current field of major at Laurier. So anyways, in desperation to pass his exam, he began studying. A lot. He studied until 4am on all days with the exception of the day before his exam, in which he didn't sleep until 8:30am (consequently 8:30am on the day of his exam). Some days he didn't even sleep in his own room since his study buddies sometimes fell asleep on his bed during the wee hours of the morning. Occasionally he was asked for a bit of tutoring, tutoring for an exam he himself was unsure he was going to pass.

SO ANYWAYS, today he wrote that exam, and he totally SMOKED IT!!!

I seriously think I got at least 80%+ on it, I'm so so so so so happy!

I'd like to thank Irene and Edith, who studied with me every night, in my room too I think. I probably wouldn't have put so much effort into this without them.

Deep thought of the day: Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo relievedddddddd!!!!

Aight, that's all for now.

So I almost missed my calculus exam today.

I woke up at around noon today, and so did my friend Edith, who is this girl on my floor that knows everything. So anyways, she calls, and we decide we should do something about lunch. Should we go out, or should we order in? Thankfully, being the incredibly lazy people we are, we ordered in Swiss Chalet, being the 3rd time within 4 days for me. At this time, we're both thinking "Oh the exam's at 6:30, we got LOTS of time to study and all." Apparently not. 1:37 rolls around, and Edith comes running to my door telling me the exam is at 2:00! Here I am in the middle of a game of Gunbound, hearing that not only was my game was going to be interrupted, I had an exam in 20 minutes that I SERIOUSLY had to cram for, but I ALSO had to postpone my lunch! WTF! So anyways, I'm like running up and down the hall pulling some of my labs from my room to review some of the concepts that I was a little fuzzy about and running to Edith's room to leach some of the theorems and stuff that were apparently 10% of the exam and that I had never taken the time to write down in class since I stopped taking notes. So anyways, for like the first time ever, I'm actually carrying notes to an exam and studying someone else's notes literally moments before entering. We made it in time, wrote the exam, and came out early since it was pretty damn easy. =)

Anyways, had me and Edith not ordered in food and instead gone out to eat at MacDonell's or something, we would've both missed the exam. That'd be pretty sad, since we both probably had among the highest marks in the class and the exam was worth 40%, lol. Teaches me to ask her for the time of an exam, she's as bad as me!

Deep thought of the day: Oh, come on Christmas, come on...

Aight, that's all for now.

Waaaaah, I just failed my business exam!!! Ahhhhh!!!

Here's a GOOD clue that you don't know what you're doing: coming across the question "Compare and contrast the 3 different business strategies."

WOW! Business exam and I can't even remember THE 3 different business strategies?! Actually, I remembered them, I just didn't know they were business strategies. Useless memorizing acronyms... ><

Deep thought of the day: I wonder what program I'll try when I drop out.

Aight, that's all for now.

PS. ***** **** and ***** ****, stop making fun of me!!! >_<

Thursday, December 09, 2004

I was just in the mood, and I need to take a break for studying cuz I've already been studying for half an hour straight. Soo...

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!! WHO'S EXCITED?!?!?!?!

What do I want for Christmas???? Hmm...
What would be really cool:
- It would be SO cool if I got like a DVD set of BoA music videos cuz her dancing is just SO awesome! Jennifer Lopez has got NOTHING on BoA.
- A car would be nice. Like, I really wouldn't complain. Really.
- *** ****

What I could probably get if I just asked:
- Bathrobe
- White scarf and gloves
- Cell phone

What I hope I don't get:
- Okay, so I know I mentioned I wanted a bathrobe, but I hope that Irene and Edith don't actually get me a lacy bathrobe =/

What I'm expecting to get:
- Sweaters and pants that don't look very attractive.
- My parents could be very cool and get me some cool electronic gadget to play with, like the digicam or MD or Discman or computer I've received in the past. My parents are usually pretty cool when it comes to Christmas gifts =D

I started weaving a scarf, it's going to take a lot longer than I thought. It might take newhere between 8 and 15 hours, but I'm guesstimating around 10 hours. Oh well, it should be worth all the work =)

Deep thought of the day: I want exams to be over!!! Okay, maybe if I just sleep and not wake up until the 22nd...

Aight, that's all for now.

Yay, wasted away another day shopping. What's new? =)

This time I went shopping with Irene. It was fun, as she criticized how guys had terrible fashion sense, and so I ended up buying a nice red sweater from bootleggers that apparently made me look more sophisticated. Now, if I were shopping by myself, I would never buy something so sharp red as that sweater, but it actually turned out to look pretty nice. Good find Irene! I also bought a nice car model kit for the Kris Kringle and some duct tape for my christmas lights because the thick scotch tape I usually use is really crappy.

So anyways, after shopping, Irene came over to work on computers, and then Edith came over, and then Evan came over, and we had a fun computers assignment party until 6 in the morning, at which point I decided I might as well stay awake if I ever wanted to make it to my next classes. I did end up going to my classes, had to wake up Edith who fell asleep in my bed, and made her go to class. Irene had just stayed in my room and took a nap while everybody went to classes. She apparently didn't recall me pushing her to get up at around 11:00am, and was rather shocked at the time when she finally did wake up at 2:30pm. Then she still stayed in my room and chilled with Edith while I was still going in and out of my room doing my regular school thang. Irene ended up staying 21 hours in my room, lol, oh well.

It's so hard to keep track of what day is what, it feels so weird that I haven't slept yet. It feels like I'm blogging about yesterday, when I'm actually blogging about today. So anyways, our floor had our Kris Kringle session at around midnight. There was definitely a fair exchange of porno and alcahol, and I definitely ended up with an Asia18 and 3 packets of flavoured jelly o.O . The magazine is so boring, every picture is like the same thing, really, lol. I guess it's the thought that counts. Thanks Peter! I actually wasn't surprised at all...haha.

I've been up almost 37 hours now. I think it's time to sleep.

Deep thought of the day: Don't apply too much pressure, or it'll just slip right out of your fingers.
*no, this has nothing to do with the porno...*

Aight, that's all for now.

Saturday, December 04, 2004

Okay, so usually I wouldn't post about this since most people don't play or even know what Gunbound is. BUT, I just had to record this somewhere because me and Lo played THE funniest match ever!

So here's how it is. Beginning of the match, it's 4v4 score, me and Lo are on the same team. I think it was during the first cycle, one person on our team lags out, so it's 3v4, 4v5 lives. We're just missing all over the place, the game is down to 1v5 lives, it's just me left on the map, and the people on the other team are mostly about half life still. I manage to kill off one and I'm down to half life. So anyways, about 6 cycles later, it's 1v1 lives, SOMEHOW. We managed to kill them down that far and the other team started choking on their shots . A guy on the other team lands on some ledge, so Lo brings him down to half life, I bring him down to a sliver, and he's on the verge of being bunged. The other team chokes two shots, and it's down to Lo, the pressure's on! Double death, all he has to do is a shotgun about 6 inches away. Me and Lo are bunched together, and he adjusts a bit so he could get a good shot. The clock is ticking, and he finally makes his shot...and he hits me!!! He was too far away to overlap our bots, and his shot hits me right in the back, and we lose! Caught up from 1v5 lives, the winning shot and he KILLS me!!! Hahaha, it will probably be one of the most memorable games I've ever played. Good one Lo.

Deep thought of the day: I have a lot of shit to do, but I don't feel like doing it. Meh.

Aight, that's all for now.

Friday, December 03, 2004

Wooo, haven't posted in a while. Anyways, so I went shopping today at Fairview. It took us like an hour to get down there, somehow, because the bus was really slow and kept getting crowded like crazy stop after stop, and it was just so crammed and all. Luckily, halfway through I was able to snatch a seat, so it wasn't like I was stuck standing in the crowd the whole time. Then, about 3/4 the way there, the bus like totally broke down! It wouldn't move, and the front door kept opening and shutting for some odd reason! Then the bus driver turned off the whole bus and restarted it, and we were finally on our way. That took at least 15 minutes or so, 15 very angry minutes, lol.

So anyways, we went to the mall. I had KFC for lunch, and it was soooo good because I haven't had KFC in THE longest time. They really need one closer to Laurier. Anyways, usually I don't really like shopping in groups of more than 2 people, but us 4 guys had quite the time wandering around. It was hilarious comparing different lengths of Christmas lights since we wanted to decorate our rooms. Hmm, the 90ft lights that all blink in sync, or the 38 ft lights that have like 16 different patterns?? They were about the same price, so Evan bought the former while I bought the latter since I figured 38ft was more than enough to decorate my room. Among the other things I bought were gum, plastic sewing needles, and CD's. I got the Maroon 5 CD! I can't wait to start listening to it, Maroon 5 rocks. Evan bought a lot of stuff too. Ryan bought a pack of gum. Steve bought a porno. Pretty standard stuff.

So now I'm back home, finally. I can't wait to start decorating my room, and it's gonna be so cool once I'm done! Whee!

Deep thought of the day: I love shopping!!

Aight, that's all for now.
