I pity anybody who thought that going to Anime North would be a boring waste of time. Let's start with a short table of contents of the things that happened during the day.
1. My house
2. Change of plans, turning back
3. Change of direction
4. Anime North, WLU - we line up!
5. Walking around
6. Tired, already? Lunch time!
7. Cosplay time!
8. Tired, again? Anime time!
9. DDR!!!
10. The airport
11. The masquerade
12. The dance, YES!!
13. Finally, going home...
Okay, so there's a short summary.
1.
So at around 8:45am on Saturday morning, Diana, Isabel, and Brenda arrive at my door and we prepared to go out the door. I had just stayed up until 4am earlier trying to finish up my costume, and when they arrived I was mildly shocked that none of them were wearing a costume! Fortunately, I was only wearing part of my outfit as it was, since there was no way I was driving with a cape and funny looking cap. So anyways, nothing much happened here, we pretty much left when they arrived.
2.
I had to take a slight detour from the directions on the map since I had to go to the bank and withdraw some cash. When we got to Scotia Bank, that's when Isabel and Diana realized that they forgot to bring their tickets -_-; . Detour! So we drove back to Isabel's house, then back to Diana's house. It's at about this time that they decided to print new directions since the directions on the original map would require a little backtracking to the 407 from Diana's house.
3.
This probably wasn't the hottest idea, since we went off track of the directions before even getting on the highway! But using simple street logic, we eventually made it onto the 401/Collector and were on our way...so we thought. I'm not exactly the biggest fan of highways that have exits on THE LEFT SIDE! Stupid left side exit!! I had to move to the left-most lane almost right away, which proved to be a slight pain, but I was barely able to make it through there. But after getting on that ramp to the Expressway, there was a fork in the road! Panicking, I had no idea which way to go, but decided to stay in my lane, which coincidentally turned out to be the right path to take. We were able to follow the directions for the better portion of the highway up until we missed the exit, and the exit after that, and ended up driving far far along the highway since the next exit was not for another 5km. So we finally got off at Black Creek, and had NO IDEA where we were! On a random stretch, I decided to just go north along that street, and then we decided that we were supposed to be heading southeast, so I had to pull up onto a driveway on a side street and turn around. Unfortunately, although we were moving in the right direction, we still had absolutely no idea as we were in the middle of Etobicoke. After a while, not only did we have no idea where we were, it really didn't help that the road started curving in another direction!! Perhaps that was a very good thing though since I eventually started heading north again and saw a sign that led back to the 401 on Lawrence.
4.
So we FINALLY made it to Anime North at the Toronto Congress Center. We were fortunate to find parking at the very nearby and now beloved Fox Bistro. Since Diana and Isabel already had registered passes earlier, I stood in line with Brenda for the better part of an hour just to get in. Had we not gotten lost on the highway, we probably wouldn't be in such a crappy situation, but I suppose it could be worse...no, actually, the line didn't get any longer at any point during the day, which was kind of disheartening since I wanted to laugh at the people lining up. BOooo!!
5.
When we got there I didn't really feel like cosplaying yet, partly since I wasn't sure if I wanted to wear it at all. There were lots of other people cosplaying already though, and there were a lot of very...interesting...outfits. Some outfits were actually very well done, but some people are just a little too confidant with themselves. I'll get to the point; there are too many fat people wearing costumes! If the actual character is supposed to be fat, then okay, but to my knowledge, most anime characters are quite skinny!! Forget the fact that there were old men dressed cosplaying as female characters (which isn't the prettiest sight either), fat women cosplaying as anything is not a good sight either! I got to witness some shockingly revealing outfits though; who would've guessed that some people would really go just dressed in langerie. Oh, won't somebody think of the children?! And yes, there were many outfits that were a little too revealing for their age on the younger end of the spectrum too. Okay, I've criticized about pretty much all the bad cosplays, but there were still a lot of very well done ones. Isabel's cosplay from Gundam Seed Destiny was quite impressive, and she was followed closely by a LOT of cameras.
6.
We got tired after walking around the arts section for a while and getting pictures taken (rather, seeing Isabel get pictures taken). It was around lunch time anyways, so we decided to get something to eat at Kelsey's, where we had the pleasure of being served by a rather disgruntled worker. I don't know whether it's Kelsey's that sucks, or the food in Mississauga in general, because the English-style fish and chips I ordered was a) not English-style, b) gross, c) probably not fish. I basically tried to choke down as much of it as possible, but closing in to the end I just couldn't take it anymore ><"! I don't think anybody else was particularly pleased with their meals either. No more Kelsey's for a while.
7.
After lunch I decided to get into my outfit. I was quite fortunate that there was nobody else there cosplaying as the moonlight knight as well, because my outfit was horrible ><"! Okay, it was actually really good considering I came up with the idea and put together my costume the night before. But still, it probably would've been much better if I had the sword, the crest, and most of all, the white rose to go with the outfit, but whatever. Almost nobody recognized who I was, and somebody couldn't tell whether I was a guy or a girl at one point (sigh...). It was still a lot of fun cosplaying though, since I got my picture taken a number of times. Actually, people mostly wanted to get a picture of Isabel, and I happened to be with her, so I got my picture taken too, haha. Oh well, it was still good fun.
8.
It was not too long before we got tired again. We decided to go watch some anime called Akazuka Daioe (?) . I don't remember the name exactly, but it was something along those lines. This was probably one of the most random animes I have ever seen, but I'll admit, it was pretty cute, haha. Served entertaining enough for me! It was getting way too hot in all the cloth I was wearing, so I stopped cosplaying at this point.
9.
DDR!! We had to sign up and wait about 3 hours to play, which was quite annoying, but whatever. There were a lot of really good DDR players there, which came as no surprise considering it WAS an anime convention. I guess I haven't played for a long long time, since I played absolutely horrible :S. Forget following what was on the screen, I was just having trouble finding the buttons on the floor! So yeah it was a bit embarrassing, but still fun, haha. There was a DDR competition going on on the big screen, and those people were insane! Ever seen DDR battle mode? The arrows were spinning, disappearing, waving around, changing speeds, everything! It was absolute craziness, and hilariously entertaining to watch!
10.
We had some time before the Masquerade, and none of us were really in the mood for eating. In fact, we wanted alcahol, badly, so we decided to drive out in search for an LCBO. Which probably wasn't the hottest idea, since we ended up AT THE AIRPORT! WTF! I swear, everytime I go on a road trip with Diana in the car, we always end up somewhere interesting. On the upside, we were pretty sure we could obtain (rather, I could obtain) some alcahol somewhere in the airport, but I was not about to park and go inside just for some coolers. Enough to say we kept moving forward into a very empty expanse, at which point I turned around and decided to head back to Anime North, where I lost my parking space at our beloved Fox bistro, and now made Radisson our new home. Airport, geez.
11.
I won't lie, the masquerade was pretty boring to me. Since this was my first time at any anime convention, I didn't know the masquerade was just a show where some people who signed up just went up on stage 1 by 1 to show off their costume and do a little skit if they had one. Again, some of the costumes were well done. On the other hand, fat women wearing stuff way too revealing, doing skits that made it even worse!! AGgghh, it makes me shudder just thinking about it now! Ughghghgh. The ninja shuffle still has me SO confused right now, haha. Despite the absolute pointlessness of it, the ninja shuffle would probably be much better than a lot of those cosplayers on stage, haha.
12.
OMG, best part of the night! Dancing! With trance music! And Japanese music! And not as many creepy guys. Oh, you have no idea how happy I was when they started playing some Kotani Kinya, and I'm not even a big fan of his, haha. Some people tried glowstringing...but it was just funny since they didn't know how. I know I suck at glowstringing, but come on, these people were just terrible! Too bad we didn't have any string, I wanted to glowstring so badly, but we had to make do with just sticks. I think Hui will be incredibly jealous of me, since I got the chance to witness 2 guys make out on the dance floor, and oh boy, they were REALLY going at it! As gross as it was, I found it hilarious, but I could only stand seeing it for so long. There was some other stuff at the dance that I probably shouldn't mention now too. After a while the music started to get progressively worse, and it was getting late anyways, so we decided to head home.
13.
Finally, on our way home. We left Anime North at about 1:30am, without any idea as to how to get home since 401 EAST had to be closed!! I got REALLY lucky though, as I used some direction logic and somehow ended up at Finch, and just took that all the way to Kennedy, and after that it was all familiar territory.
Ahh, what a fun day, but that was enough anime con for me for a while. I guess I could do 3 days like other people if I didn't have to go through the trouble of driving down there so many times.
Deep thought of the day: Nostalgia is a powerful thing.
Aight, that's all for now.

I've got about 15 minutes before I leave for work, so I'm gonna blog a bit.
So anyways, it's been a month already. I can't believe I've already been working here for a whole month, since everyday I come in I feel like it's still my first week with the new team. I'm already receiving my second pay cheque, it's almost scary how time flies by so fast.
Today I went out to lunch with my coworkers and stuffed myself sooooo bad. It was a lot of fun, lol. I unno, I could actually say a lot of funny stuff about it, but I'm just not in the mood to say much right now. I'm just glad it's the end of the week.
Anime North 2moro!!
Deep thought of the day: In essense, virtue is the only reward you need.

This is me procrastinating at work. Well, I guess it's not really procrastinating, since that would require me actually having something that I should be doing, instead of blogging right now. It's pretty dull here...just me and my growing wall of fruitopia bottles...and the rest of my incredibly messy desk.
Wtf, I don't even have any specific jobs to do and my mess is covered with papers. I should really clean this up sometime, but it makes it look like I'm busy doing something. ^^
I should really update this blog more often, but I just don't think it's worth the effort usually. It feels like everybody has stopped blogging...that and I don't really check many people's blogs. I remember back in the day when I first started blogging, I had an update like everyday! Then again, it's not like I went to school.
Okay okay, what's interesting right now...work's pretty boring I guess, excel and visual basic, that's pretty much it. Yay.
Oh, Anime North this Saturday! Hmm, I wanna cosplay as something, but a) I don't have any GOOD ideas for cosplaying, and b) there's not much time to make a good costume. It's hard to pose as anything since I have such short hair. Any ideas? I figure it'll be too late by the time anybody, if anybody, reads this, lol.
CS1.6 runs smoothly at home, word! And I'm starting to play WoW! And I should really start looking at my DE material since I have a midterm or something in about 3 weeks that I'm so screwed for. Oh well.
Deep thought of the day: Time slows down when you look at it.

I followed a girl off the wrong stop on the subway...
...
again. At least this time I was only 1 stop off. -_-;
Yeah, I haven't been posting much, but hasn't been much happening. Work has been the same shidazzle. I've started learning some visual basic at work, so I'm actually doing some interesting stuff, not like you would care. Last weekend I stayed home to keep my bro company, so once again, not much happening there.
Next weekend is Kitty's bbq! Holy crap it's Tuesday already. I just noticed =)
Deep thought of the day: Ignorance is bliss.

What an interesting day. So today was my first day at work at Canada Life. Let's start at the very beginning...
This morning I woke up to my alarm at 6:04am (yes, 6:04, not 6:00). Seeing that my dad said that I just had to be ready to go by 7:00, I decided that I'd snooze a bit. Now, my alarm clock is really stupid (you can see this isn't leading to any good). There's a really small button beside the large snooze button in the middle of my alarm clock. When I went to hit the snooze button, I hit both buttons at the same time, but decided that it was probably just some other random button that I wouldn't have to worry about. It turns out that it was actually the sleep button, meaning that the radio, indeed, would not go off again. What a retarded clock design, honestly. It's so easy to hit the sleep button by accident!! You'd think that they might make it on the other side of the alarm or perhaps not exist at all, what a ridonculous button, honestly. So anyways, a bit later my dad comes to wake me up, which I thought I got up because I was only half asleep at that point. Apparently not. I wake up, and my clock says 6:59, and I run to switch on the light right before I hear my dad leave his room. So I start scrambling around to change into my work clothes and all, and it turns out my black pants weren't in my closet. Double uh oh. Why weren't they in my closet? *shrugs* So anyways I finally found them while digging through my brother's closet, waking him up at like 7 in the morning. Basically, I didn't have time to brush teeth and stuff, and I'm lucky that my hair is short so that sleeping didn't really do anything to it. So why am I writing about this? See, my dad has a tendency to go bananas on me when I sleep in when I'm supposed to wake up, especially if he already woke me up once, which is kinda understandable. Now, especially since this was my first day of work, AND me working for Canada Life is also influencing his reputation, he would probably go a whole bunch of bananas on me, which definitely would not have been a pretty sight. I'm glad that all went smoothly.
So anyways, went downtown to eat breakfast (half a chocolate croissant and a terrible tasting coffee), and went to work! Actually, on my way to work I bumped into Irene, who's also working at Canada Life too!! Yay, we're working buddies!! Okay, so later on the people took me to HR where I signed my life away, I mean, signed some employment documents, and then got introduced to the rest of the team. Then...the meeting. I guess it was a good icebreaker into the company, sitting down with the rest of my team for 2 hours discussing financial #'s and stuff, so essentially I had no idea what was going on, but I pretty much said nothing and drank my coffee. During the meeting I had come to the conclusion that the people on my team were pretty tech-disabled. Not knowing how to use visual basic? Understandable, even I don't know how to use it. It's things like my manager not knowing how to check how much space a disk drive has left that makes me begin to have doubts. We even had a short discussion about getting a CD burner. Getting a CD burner was a big deal!! Later on when I got to my desk, I found out that we didn't have Internet!!
After the meeting I went to lunch with Irene, and not surprisingly, half hour lunches fly by pretty quick, pretty much because half an hour is NOT a long time. It took me like 5 minutes just to walk to a place to eat, meaning it would take another 5 to walk back, leaving about 20 to order food AND scarf it down. I'm going to start taking longer breaks, lol.
When I got back from lunch, I spent the next 3 hours looking at financial statements and excel spreadsheets, trying to figure out what the hell the numbers on the excel sheet represented and how they got there. That part wasn't that hard, but I wasn't too sure how long I was supposed to do that. I could've spent half an hour for all it mattered, or the rest of the day, since it seemed like the person that was supposed to give me stuff to work on totally forgot about me or something, haha. I finally got some real work to do later, some data entry stuff that I finished up real quick and I think I even impressed the person I was working with, haha.
So all in all, I still don't know what the hell I'm supposed to be doing. I'm tired now.
Deep thought of the day: Holy hell, 8 hours is a long working day.
Aight, that's all for now.
This morning I woke up to my alarm at 6:04am (yes, 6:04, not 6:00). Seeing that my dad said that I just had to be ready to go by 7:00, I decided that I'd snooze a bit.
